The 2026 Congressional Holiday Ornament celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, a milestone that marks two and a half centuries since the nation’s bold declaration of sovereignty. On July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress adopted Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence. Since the nation’s founding, generations of Americans have celebrated the birth of America’s freedom on July Fourth with parades, concerts, and fireworks.

Each year the Capitol serves as the iconic backdrop to the fireworks display, as flashes of red, white and blue light up the dome. This year’s ornament features a view of the East Front of the Capitol. A double border composed of bands of white stars on a blue background and egg-and-dart designs in gold frames the scene. The top of the ornament features an eagle with a sheaf of arrows, standing on a shield. On either side of the Capitol are American flags, and fireworks have transformed the sky into a kaleidoscope of colors. The ornament is crafted of multiple layers of cutwork brass with a 24-karat-gold finish and multicolor highlights.
